The Opportunity:
The client sought to reduce energy costs and increase light levels in their five main distribution centers across the country. The existing systems ranged from 360W – 1000W metal halide hi-bays on both 277v and 480v circuits and a combination of 4’ and 8’ T12 fixtures throughout the facilities. The company recognized the opportunity to achieve a number of lighting quality improvements while meeting their sustainability goals and further enhancing employee safety and performance.
The Solution:
In an effort to reduce energy consumption and increase light levels, while taking advantage of available utility rebates, this national retail client partnered with the experts at Illumetek to remove the existing lighting system and install a technologically advanced system utilizing a state of the art fixture, lamp/ballast combination. In addition the fixtures were equipped with lighting controls to further enhance energy efficiency and reduce maintenance costs by turning lights out when areas are not in use. HID technologies were completely retrofitted to T5 fluorescent lamps and the T12 technology was replaced with T8 systems. In addition the extended manufacturer warranty offered through Illumetek made the entire retrofit a “no cost” maintenance upgrade for the first three years of the project installation.
